Introduction to Revaheal AlgiPad Dressing
Ravaheal AlgiPad is a multi‑layer wound dressing available in 10 × 10 cm and 20 × 20 cm forms. It contains chitosan, sodium alginate, and calcium, and is engineered with advanced slow‑release technology. The dressing is used in hospitals, clinics, and home settings for wound care, management, and healing.
The dressing consists of three layers with distinct functions:
| Layer | Function |
| Contact layer (non‑adhesive) | Prevents sticking to the wound and protects the wound during dressing changes. |
| Central core | Absorbs wound exudate and prevents it from leaking onto the outer surface. |
| Outer layer | Stops any absorbed exudate from escaping the dressing. |
Indications
- Acute and chronic wounds with high exudate
- Pressure (bed‑sores)
- Diabetic foot ulcers
- Vascular wounds (venous / arterial)
- Post‑operative wounds
- Burns
- Infected wounds
Mechanism of Action
- Slow‑release design – Initially the dressing’s ingredients (e.g., alginate) form a moist, non‑adhesive gel that protects the wound bed.
- Gradual release of active agents – These agents are slowly released to inhibit bacteria (infection control) and to regulate the wound environment.
- Direct stimulation of tissue repair – Released substances directly promote tissue regeneration, re‑epithelialization, and rapid granulation‑tissue formation.
Advantages
- Maintains structural integrity even when saturated.
- Non‑adhesive to the wound bed, preventing damage to granulation tissue during dressing changes.
- Stimulates re‑epithelialization and accelerates granulation‑tissue formation.
- Reduces infection risk and controls exudate.
Treatment Recommendations
- Increase flexibility – Moisten the dressing surface with normal saline.
- High‑exudate wounds – Replace dressing sooner (every 2–3 days).
- Secondary dressing – If necessary, use Revaheal Pad as a secondary dressing.
How to Use
- Clean the wound – Rinse with normal saline or Revaheal Sept.
- Cut the dressing – Trim to match the wound size.
- Apply – Place the transparent (contact) layer against the wound; the opaque layer faces outward.
- Secondary dressing – Apply Revaheal Pad over the AlgiPad.
- Change frequency – Replace every 2–4 days, depending on exudate amount.
Warnings
- Store away from direct sunlight.
- Keep below 30 °C.
- Not recommended for wounds that are already in the epithelialization phase.
